Requesting a Visit With Me
I see patients at Lake Oswego Smiles, and appointments are scheduled through their office. When you request an appointment, let them know you would like to see Dr. Hanrahan — otherwise you may be booked with another dentist in the practice.

What Your First Visit Involves
A first visit is usually a cleaning and a full exam. A hygienist cleans your teeth, removing the plaque and tartar that brushing alone cannot reach, and I examine your teeth and gums and talk through anything I find.
If it has been years since your last visit, that is genuinely alright — we start with a thorough exam to understand where things stand and build a plan from there. Nothing gets decided in a hurry.
X-rays are not automatic at every visit. We space them based on your individual risk and history rather than a fixed schedule — I have written about how often you actually need dental X-rays if you would like the reasoning.
You are welcome to ask what I am seeing and why at any point. That is the part of the visit I care most about.
Insurance and Payment
The office can bill most dental insurances, and is in-network with Delta Dental PPO & Premier, Cigna PPO, MetLife PDP, Pacific Source, Regence BlueCross BlueShield PPO, United Concordia Advantage, and United Healthcare.
CareCredit is available for payment plans, including interest-free options for qualified applicants. Full details, accepted cards, and plan terms are on the payment options and insurance page.
Transferring Your Records
If you are coming from another dental office, you do not need to chase your records yourself. Call or email the office and the team will send you a release form to sign, then request your records and X-rays on your behalf.

Finding the Office
Lake Oswego Smiles is at 16699 Boones Ferry Road, Suite 200, Lake Oswego, OR 97035. The practice is open Monday through Thursday, 7am to 4pm.
Look for the brick building with 16699 on the awning above the main entrance. Parking is in the lot directly in front, shared with the other medical offices in the building — there is generally plenty of room, and there is accessible parking marked near the door.
Suite 200 is on the second floor. Take the stairs up and we are the first door on your left. There is also an elevator if you would rather not use the stairs.
